We are so happy to welcome Mason James Reveles to our family. Mason is a true blessing and we just love him!
I was having contractions and false labor scares for the last 2 months of pregnancy. On December 9, 2010 at 10 p.m. I started getting contractions that were 4 minutes apart, I waited an hour to and they slowly eased. I woke up at 1:45 am 12/10/10 with more contractions, I knew today would be the day!! I got ready, grabbed my belonging and drove to the hospital. By the time I got to the hospital at 3:36 am my contractions were 2 minutes apart. OUCH!!! I have never been in that much pain before. They kept me even though I was not dialated because every time I had a contraction, Mason's heart rate dropped. I finally got an epidural at 8 am. I had a fever and the chills, it was very scary. I was 4 cm about and hr after the epidural, the staff decided I would need a c-section. I begged them not to, that was my worst fear. Before the OB would decide if a c-section was needed, she decided to check me and I was 10cm, and ready to go. At this time Art left to get food, so i freaked because I thought he would miss the birth of our son. When my called him at 11:35 am she told him he needed to get back ASAP. We didn't know where he went, thank god he only went to the cafeteria downstairs. By the time he cam up, I started pushing, after about 5 minutes my baby boy was born. The NICU staff was already in the room to check on his cleft, and make sure he was in good condition. They did hand Mason to us because the cord was choking him so much he was pale. We were scared, and more scared when they told us they were admitting him to NICU. I was devastated, I had not even held hi, I had no idea what he looked like. Before they left they brought him to me so I could see him for about 30 seconds. Since I had a fever & was GBS positive, Mason needed to be on antibiotics. It was very tough for me to be away from my baby, while I heard all the other babies crying. People were asking to come visit and I was so sad because I had no baby for them to visit. The NICU is really strict on their visitor policy. I spent most of my time there with Mason until I had to go home. Sunday 12/12/10 was the hardest day ever, I went home without my baby. It was bittersweet, I was happy to be with my other baby Dustin. Thankfully my mom was here to help and make it easier while I spent my time between home and the hospital, trying to give equal amount of time to both boys. Even though this was very hard we are thankful Mason was able to come home on Tuesday 12/14/10. Dustin welcomed his baby brother with open arms!
